Taylor’s Look:

  • To get that perfect winged liner look, Maybelline‘s felt-tip liquid eyeliner glides on smooth for precise control.
  • For the lashes, a full set of Volume Lash Extensions will have your lashes looking just like Taylor’s!
  • Then for the lips, NARS Honolulu Honey is the perfect blend of natural beige with a satin finish.

Ciara’s Look:

  • Gold, shimmery eyes
  • Lifted lashes
  • Nude glossed lips

Get Her Look:

  • Bobbi Brown’s shimmer wash eye shadow in ‘champagne’ is the perfect shade to highlight and illuminate the eyes like we see on Ciara.
  • Her lashes looked beautifully natural with a lovely lift and curl. You can get this same classic look with a simple Lash Lift Perm which will define and curl your lashes seamlessly in one treatment. (Note: A lash lift perm is not available in New Jersey.)
  • Try Lancome’s L’Absolu Lacquer Gloss in Beige Aura to add the same nude glossy look to your lips.

Vanessa’s Look:

  • Recreate her lash look by getting a full set of our Volume Lash Extensions. Volume lashes offer incredible fullness with 2 or more of our lightest lash extensions applied to 1 natural eyelash.
  • To get your brows looking like Vanessa’s, get them threaded. Eyebrow threading is an innovative option for brow shaping and hair removal. It also has many benefits over waxing and plucking and can give you this same sexy arched look.

  • Super dark, warm smokey eyes
  • Volume lashes

Get Her Look:

  • To conquer this contoured look, try the ‘Step-by-Step Contour Kit’ by Smashbox.

Dua’s Look:

  • Shades of brown on her lips and eyes
  • Full lashes on the top and bottom
  • Bold brows (that are noticeably a perfect match to her hair color.)

Get Her Look:

  • Brown shades are all the rage this season and you can get this same edgy yet feminine look on your lips with Yves Saint Laurent’s ROUGE PUR COUTURE Lipstick with shade 53 Beige Promenade from Sephora. Continue the brown tones on the eyes by using a bronze shade like MAC’s Charcoal Brown eye shadow.
  • A full lash line on the top AND bottom can be achieved by getting Lash Extensions -and yes, you can even get lash extensions on your lower lid. This will open up your eyes and brighten your face even more than just having lash extensions on the top!
  • For the same bold brow look as Dua, get a simple brow tint. This service is ideal for those who want to darken their brows or simply give them a bolder look. And it also saves you the hassle of filling in your brows – which is a huge time saver! (Note: Lash tinting is available at many Lash Lounge locations, but not in the following states: New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts or California.)

4 Facts About Lash Shedding

Every hair on our body follows a specific growth cycle, including our eyelashes. Lash shedding is a healthy part of the hair growth process and should not be cause for alarm—yes, even with lash extensions! Today, we’re sharing 4 facts about lash shedding and the natural cycle.

The Natural Lash Shedding Cycle

Did you know?

  1. On average, a person can lose up to 20% of their natural lashes every two weeks.
  2. Natural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles, which occurs every 60 to 90 days.
  3. Depending on their individual lash growth cycles, a person can typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes every day.
  4. A new eyelash has already been growing to replace the lash that falls out and for most of us, we don’t even notice.

If you have ever noticed how your hair sheds more during certain seasons, you’re not alone! This is called “seasonal molting” and it’s completely natural. You can read more about it here.

Your Natural Lashes + Lash Extensions

When eyelashes are extended with quality semi-permanent extensions (like we use here at The Lash Lounge), it will be more noticeable when these lashes shed because they are longer and darker than your natural lashes. But, don’t worry, lash extensions should only shed when your natural lash has reached the end of its cycle, so no damage to your natural lashes here!

How does it work?

When a trained stylist applies a set of classic lash extensions, one lash extension is attached to your natural eyelash. In volume, we attach a handmade fan of 2 or more lash extensions to your natural eyelash. In hybrid, it’s a combo of the two. You’ll notice that when your natural lash sheds, so goes the lash extensions(s)!

FUN FACT…WHO KNEW? All hairs, including eyelashes, replace themselves every few years.

Tips & Tricks

Tips on Brushing and Cleaning Your Lashes (and Why…

When you have lash extensions, the overall upkeep is very minimal and very easy to manage if you clean and brush them regularly. So do the following (plus visit your salon for refill appointments every 2–3 weeks) and your lashes will stay looking full and fabulous!

Brush Your Lashes Daily

Brush your lashes daily to prevent crisscrossing. A simple 15–20 second sweep through your lashes in the morning will put stray lashes in their place. Make sure you’re gentle when brushing your eyelash extensions, as you don’t want to tug at them if they are tangled or overlapping. And take a quick peek to make sure your lash wand is clean. We don’t want any clumpy mascara getting in the way of that smooth sweep!

BONUS! Brushing your lashes each day helps your extensions last longer.

Keep Your Lashes Clean

When you clean your lashes regularly, you are helping to keep your natural oils at bay. Cleansing regularly also helps prevent premature lash shedding. Cleanse your lashes daily with a gentle, lash extension-friendly cleanser and make sure it’s oil- and alcohol-free!

THE SCARY TRUTH: When you skip your daily lash wash, your lash follicles can get clogged with oil, dirt and debris, which can make it difficult for new lashes to grow.

Despite this, it’s not uncommon for lash stylists to see guests with severe build-up of makeup residue, oil and/or dead skin cells along their lash lines. This is not only unhygienic, but it can also cut into your appointment time because your stylist must make sure they’re squeaky clean before performing your refill.

7 Time-Saving Makeup Tips For Women On The Go

We all know there are just some days when we have to get out the door in a hurry and we don’t have all morning for a long, extensive beauty routine. If you’re a woman on the go, keep it simple and try these 7 time saving makeup tips.

1.  Start With The Eyes

Eyeshadow fall-out has the potential to mess up your makeup, so don’t let it. Start with your eyeshadow and you won’t waste any precious time clearing up the aftermath, especially if you’re dabbling with colourful pigments or glitter. (via escentual.com)

2. Stick with Neutral Tones

If a bold lip isn’t really your thing and you can’t afford to think too long and hard about your color palette – just go with all neutral colors for your entire face, like tan, taupe, and peach. Chances are they’ll all go together. (via popsugar.com)

3. Choose a Tinted Moisturizer

A tinted moisturizer is a saving grace when you’re short on time. Not only does it need little-to-no blending but it’ll give your skin a boost of hydration, which means you can skip moisturizer if you’re really in a rush. (via escentual.com)

4. Make Your Pout Pop

If you’ve really pushed it or overslept, just reach for one product: red lipstick. Even if you wear nothing else and just a red pout, you’ll look miraculously put together and glamorous. Plus, you can put it on while you’re riding the elevator up to your office.. (via popsugar.com)

5. Think Pink!

A pop of pink on the apples of your cheek give you that instant face brightening you’re looking for to enhance your gorgeous complexion. (via shop.mymakeupbrushes.com)

6. Skip Liquid Liner

Nobody has time to clean up a messy line in the morning. Go for a pencil liner which will give you the flexibility to not need a perfect line. Smudge the line and you’re good to go — perfection. (via shop.mymakeupbrushes.com)

7. Say So Long to Mascara

Who has time for mascara in the morning? Your daily beauty routine can become even more simplified by getting lash extensions. Whether you want a classic, natural look or lots of volume and fluff, lash extensions will not only save you time but many women often find that they don’t even need to wear as much makeup at all!

6 Ways to Truly Relax During Your Service

We know life is busy and things get stressful!  It’s always our goal to provide a relaxing experience for our clients, so today we’re sharing 6 ways to truly relax during your service at The Lash Lounge . . . take note!

 1. Get Comfortable

At The Lash Lounge, we’re not just there to transform your lashes and brows, we’re there to make you as comfortable as possible. Our plush blankets are always a hit with our clients as they lay back and relax during their service. We also recommend that you chat with your stylist and let them know if there’s anything else you need in order to have a truly comfortable and relaxing experience.

2. Keep It Quiet

Our stylists love to chat with their clients of course, however a little less talk allows you to truly unwind – which we want you to do during your service! So don’t feel like you have to talk. Keep it quiet so you can relax and let your stylist work her magic!

3. Avoid Too Much Caffeine Before Your Appointment

We all love our coffee, sodas and those super tasty Starbucks drinks that helps us get through the day. But if you’re all hyped up on caffeine, you may find it hard to relax. So save your favorite caffeinated indulgence for after your appointment – if you can!

4. Listen to Some Tunes

Some Lash Lounge salons offer headphones or earbuds so that clients can listen to music and unwind – and we also always welcome clients who bring their own! Listening to music is a great way to tune things out and enjoy that much deserved time during your appointment. Click here for some chill songs and best relaxing pop hits playlist!

5. Choose a Low Stress Appointment Time

If possible and your schedule allows, try to choose an appointment time that will keep the stress level low and allow you to truly relax during your service. For instance, if you schedule an appointment during your lunch break or cut it close before another commitment, you may feel stressed worrying about the next place you have to be. However we know that sometimes you just gotta work things in when you can, so do what you need to do but if you can – allow yourself that extra time so you can really relax! (Now it’s easier then ever to make an appointment at The Lash Lounge with our on-line booking.)

6. Put Your Phone On Silent

We rarely put our phones away, even for just a short time. During your appointment, every ding or notification may keep you from getting that much needed lash nap you’ve been dreaming of all week. So keep your phone in your purse and even turn it on ‘do not disturb’ for a short time. Everyone will survive and you will enjoy your “me time’ so much more!

Meghan Markle’s Big Day Beauty Look and How to…

There was so much to be in awe of over the weekend when it came to the Royal Wedding, but our number one awe inspiring moment was when we first saw the bride. Meghan Markle stayed true to her sense of style keeping her big day look classic, modern and not overdone. Same went for her makeup and since it’s officially wedding season, we’re breaking down her big day beauty look and how you can get the same look for your big day – or simply everyday!

One guess what our favorite part of her look was . . . her lashes and brows, of course!

FACE

Her Look: Gorgeous and glowing, the bride went for a natural look when it came to her face. She’s all about letting her freckles show, therefor she didn’t try to cover them up. While she skipped the heavy foundation, her makeup artist for the wedding (Daniel Martin) did add a bit of concealer under her eye.

Get The Look: Meghan’s said she’s a fan of super-light foundations (again, so her freckles can show through). To get there, Meghan’s pre-engagement makeup artist, Lydia Sellers, says she would reach for Giorgio Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 6.25 with a few drops of 5.5. Bounced on with a slightly wet Beautyblender, it gives light, dewy coverage. (via glamour.com)

EYES + LASHES

The Look: Her eyes were the main beauty feature as she wore smoky gray eyeshadow and her lashes were bold with the most lovely full and fluttery appearance.

Get The Look:  Rather than overdoing the eyeliner, Meghan tends to play up her lashes. The best way to get this lovely look is to get Volume Lash Extensions! The fullness, length, curl and deep, natural color and overall look is just the ticket to having royally gorgeous lashes.

For eyeliners, her two favorites are M.A.C. Teddy, a gorgeous, gold-flecked brown, and Chanel Eyeliner in Cassis, a shimmery plum that she draws on her upper lash line and water line. (via glamour.com)

LIPS

The Look: Her lips were painted a peachy pale pink shade of lipstick that had a satin finish. (via hapersbazaar.com)

Get The Look: The word on the street is that Markle’s a fan of Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution lipstick in Very Victoria ($34), a matte, dusty rose-tinted nude that seems polished enough even for the halls of Buckingham Palace or, say, the queen’s personal tea room. Not only does the pink tone give it some warmth—a nonnegotiable when you’re dealing with nude shades—but the matte finish makes it feel more modern than your average neutral lipstick. Also worth noting: Celebrity makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury is one of the best-known Brits in her field, so Markle’s choice could be a sly nod to her new country. (via glamour.com)

BROWS

The Look: Not overly bold but still quite beautiful, her brows were striking, defined and filled-in to anchor her face.

Get The Look: Sherrille Riley is responsible for Meghan’s brows and told metro.co.uk how she created the perfect brow style for her, which she refers to as the ‘Audrey Hepburn Brow’. The style is to keep the brows as straight as possible with a gradual lift at the tail ends and the style is completely arch-less and in-line with the natural brow. It’s a really modern twist on the iconic brow shape that Audrey was famous for. This effortless shape lifts the face and harmonises the features. Threading is one of the methods Riley uses to achieve this classic brow look on Meghan.

5 Things Lash Stylists Want Their Clients To Know

If you’re a lash extension veteran, then your lash stylist has most likely educated you on the best ways to care for your lashes, products you can/cannot use and all the other important ‘dos and dont’s’ that come with having lash extensions. But there are some other important things that lash stylists want YOU, their clients to know . . .

Be Upfront

Don’t be afraid to share any discomfort or concerns with your stylist during your service. They are there to not only make your lashes look fabulous, but they also want to make sure you have the best lash experience possible. If you have any discomfort or irritation during your service, tell your stylist so she can make you comfortable. Also be sure to reach out to your salon/stylist after your service, if by chance you experience an allergic reaction, redness or simply have a question you forgot to mention before you left. They are the experts after-all, so don’t hesitate to share any concerns during or after your service.

Don’t Expect The Same Results As Your Friends

Your stylist will always strive to give you the lash look you desire. However, if your friend has lash extensions with extreme, voluminous fullness and you want the same but your lashes don’t end up looking as full as hers, there’s a reason. Clients who already have a naturally full lash line will end up with an even more extreme, full lash line after having extensions applied. If your natural lash line isn’t as full, then your lash extensions may not have the same fullness as your friend’s lashes. The more natural lash hairs you have, the more extensions can be applied. So to sum it up, your stylist wants you to understand that they will work with the natural hairs YOU have and give you the best results possible, however your lash look and your bff’s lash look may not always look the same….and now you know why.

Keep Chatter to a Minimum

While it’s always fun to catch up with your fav, fabulous lash stylist, too much chatting can make her job more difficult. Why? For one, it’s always very important to be as still as possible during the application process and allow your stylist to focus on the precise technique she needs to master during your service. Second, this needs to be a relaxing experience for you. If you and your stylist chat the entire time, then you may not get to enjoy that amazing lash nap we all love. However, if it’s your stylist that’s doing most of the talking, remember to take headphones to keep the talking to minimum, or like we mentioned in #1, be upfront and kindly tell your stylist you’ve had a long day and that you’d prefer to just relax and not chat too much. She will gladly understand!

Don’t Leave It All Up To Your Stylist

If you don’t do your part and take care of your lashes, then your lash stylist can’t do her job to the fullest. If you don’t clean, comb and care for your lashes properly, then your stylist may not always be able to give you the results you want. They will try of course, but if they have to spend time cleaning and separating dirty lashes, then this means less time getting your lashes back to the look you love. If you have lost a great deal of lashes due to poor care or if you don’t keep up with your 2-3 week refill appointments, then your stylist may recommend a full, new set. So be good to yourself, your lashes and your stylist by taking proper care of your extensions and schedule regular refills. (Pssst . . . It’s now easier than ever to book your appointments with our new, convenient on-line booking system.)

Listen To Your Stylist

Remember that the stylists are the experts! They do this every day, for hours a day. Listen to them and any tips or feedback they may give you during your appointment. You make an investment in your lash extensions and your stylists knows it and wants to help you keep that investment looking full and fabulous!
