6 Ways to Enhance Your Lash Lounge Experience

It’s your favorite day, also known as lash refill day! Before you start counting down the time till you get to sink into that relaxing spa bed, take note of some ways you can enhance your anticipated bi-weekly trip to The Lash Lounge.

1. TAKE IN THE TUNES

Love listening to music to unwind? You’re in luck! Most of our salons offer earbuds or headphones so you can listen to your favorite songs while we work our lash and brow magic.

Got your own ear gear? Bring it with you! Just make sure your headphones aren’t too large; wouldn’t want you to be uncomfortable or potentially block your stylist’s lashing path during your application. Other than that, pick that playlist!

2. DON’T BE RUSHED

You. are. busy. Finding the “perfect” time to set appointments is tough! But if you’re cutting it close leaving work, picking up the kids or have to head to a meeting after your service, that’s a recipe for stress. We definitely don’t want you feeling rushed during your appointment! This is your “me time”!

If possible, try to choose an appointment time that will keep the stress level low and allow you to place that to-do list (and all other worries) on the back-burner—even if it’s just for an hour or two!

3. COOL IT ON THE CAFFEINE

Most of us thrive off of that extra kick caffeine gives us throughout the day. But here’s the deal: Drinking caffeine all day or right before your appointment can make it difficult for you to unwind.

Stillness is the name of our lash game! If you can, we urge you to save your favorite caffeine-charged indulgence for after your appointment.

4. THE MAGIC OF MAINTENANCE

Did you know keeping your lashes fresh and fluffed in between appointments helps you get the most out of your time in the salon. How? If you suffer a maintenance miss this month, your stylist may need to spend extra time caring for your lashes before she can start on your scheduled service. In extreme cases, we may have to add more extensions than usual to bring that lash line back to its original fullness. But that’s totally doable! Just be sure to let us know if you’re running a little thin and we can make sure to book the right amount of time to get your lashes back to beautiful.

The good news is the majority of our guests are lash care legends. Give yourself a pat on the back!

5. POSITION POSSIBILITIES

Generally, our guests lie comfortably on their backs during their appointment, but we know this may not be ideal for everyone. Whether you’re a mommy-to-be or a guest with back issues, our stylists are here to help!

Be sure to let them know about any issues you may have when lying on your back so they can work with you to find a position that allows you to get super comfy and totally relaxed during your service. Along with your lashes, the comfort of our guests is our #1 priority!

6. ASK AWAY

Last but not least, never hesitate to ask your stylist any questions or concerns you may have. If you’re unsure about a product, bring it in with you and share it with your stylist so they can assure you whether it’s safe for your lashes. Don’t take any chances if you’re not 100% sure; that’s what we’re here for!

Aside from making your lashes look oh-so-fabulous, we want you to feel comfortable and cared for each and every time you visit us. Let us work our lash magic and let The Lash Lounge be your home away from home! Looking for a location? Find a salon near you!

Tips on Brushing and Cleaning Your Lashes (and Why…

When you have lash extensions, the overall upkeep is very minimal and very easy to manage if you clean and brush them regularly. So do the following (plus visit your salon for refill appointments every 2–3 weeks) and your lashes will stay looking full and fabulous!

Brush Your Lashes Daily

Brush your lashes daily to prevent crisscrossing. A simple 15–20 second sweep through your lashes in the morning will put stray lashes in their place. Make sure you’re gentle when brushing your eyelash extensions, as you don’t want to tug at them if they are tangled or overlapping. And take a quick peek to make sure your lash wand is clean. We don’t want any clumpy mascara getting in the way of that smooth sweep!

BONUS! Brushing your lashes each day helps your extensions last longer.

Keep Your Lashes Clean

When you clean your lashes regularly, you are helping to keep your natural oils at bay. Cleansing regularly also helps prevent premature lash shedding. Cleanse your lashes daily with a gentle, lash extension-friendly cleanser and make sure it’s oil- and alcohol-free!

THE SCARY TRUTH: When you skip your daily lash wash, your lash follicles can get clogged with oil, dirt and debris, which can make it difficult for new lashes to grow.

Despite this, it’s not uncommon for lash stylists to see guests with severe build-up of makeup residue, oil and/or dead skin cells along their lash lines. This is not only unhygienic, but it can also cut into your appointment time because your stylist must make sure they’re squeaky clean before performing your refill.

5 Ways to Take the BEST Care of your…

We can never stress enough the importance of taking care of your lash extensions.  Our goal is to provide information on how to best care for them so that your lashes always look flawless and most all, that you love them.  Today we are sharing 5 Best Practices for Taking the BEST Care of your Lash Extensions . . . take note!

The first thing you need to do to take the best care of your lash extensions is . . .

Keep Your Lashes Clean

The best way to keep your lash extensions clean is by using a lash extension safe cleanser. At The Lash Lounge, we offer cleansers that are specially formulated for cleaning your extensions: Oil Free Liquid Remover and Oil Free Gel Remover. Our gentle, oil-free and alcohol free eye makeup removers have the same pH balance as natural tears and come in a liquid or gel formula. For cleaning your eye area to remove makeup and eyeshadow, we recommend applying the cleanser to a cotton pad. Be sure to saturate the cotton pad because the dry cotton could catch onto your lashes. Very gently rub your eyelid and avoid rubbing your lashes. When you need to clean your lashes, use your lash wand and gently brush through your lashes.

Omit Oil Based Products

Any skin care products, creams or cosmetics that are oil based are a ‘no-no’ when it comes to lash extensions.  Be sure to select products that are labeled oil free to ensure the longevity of your lashes. And when in doubt – always read the label of ingredients to make sure what you are using is truly oil free.

Wear No Mascara (or very little)

The beauty of lash extensions is that you have lovely, long, full lashes without having to wear mascara. We know that some ladies may still want to wear mascara on occasion, and that’s okay as long as it’s a mascara made for lash extensions. However, wearing no mascara at all is better when it comes to extending the life of your lashes. If you simply must wear mascara, be sure to ONLY wear a water based mascara, which is not the same as a water – proof mascara. Lastly, when applying your lash extension safe mascara, only use one coat and only apply to the tips of your lashes.

Avoid Over Exposure to Moisture

Too much moisture on a constant basis is not good for your lashes. But daily washing of the face and activities like swimming are lash extension safe.

Maintain Lash Refills Regularly

All of the tips we have mentioned are so very important, but this one is probably the most important! Sticking with your refill appointments every 2 weeks will keep your lashes looking their absolute best. The longer you wait for a fill, the harder it is for your lash stylist to keep your lashes looking full and fabulous.  If you go too long without getting a lash refill, a full new set may be required.  So maintaining your refills is a good idea in more ways than one!
