6 Simple Ways to Add Balance to Your Busy…

Are you tired of feeling pulled in a million directions? We feel you!

We’ve got some easy ways you can simplify your life and find that much-needed balance you deserve!

1. REFRESH YOUR ROUTINE

Sticking to a set routine can keep your sanity in check, but sometimes it can be refreshing to change things up a bit:

  • If you work from home, get out of the house at least once a week and work from a local coffee shop.
  • Take a different route to work and get inspired by a scenic detour.
  • Step away from the office and join your coworkers for lunch.
  • Try a new fitness class at your gym instead of going to yoga for the millionth time.

Whatever it is, see how a simple change in your routine can help you thrive in the other areas of your life.

2. GET SOCIAL

Getting out with friends, visiting with family and even grabbing a quick coffee with your bestie can do wonders for your wellbeing. In fact, studies have shown time and time again that socializing can leave you motivated, help you de-stress and have many benefits for your physical and mental health.

So, set that to-do list aside, get out the calendar, text your friends, call the sitter and schedule a gathering on the books. You’ll be so glad you did!

3. NOD TO THE NEW

Take the plunge and give one of the many things that you have filed away in your brain under “someday” a chance:

  • Get that cute haircut you’ve been contemplating.
  • Go for the fun and bright nail polish instead of your usual neutral shade.
  • Skip your routine Friday night restaurant visit and try the new eatery down the street.
  • Make that appointment at The Lash Lounge for the full set of volume lashes you’ve seen all of your friends rock. (Hello, lash envy!)

It is so very empowering when you step outside of your comfort zone!

4. PRESS PAUSE

Sitting behind a computer all day or working on a home project becomes monotonous and exhausting. Press pause and step away for a bit, even if only for 10 minutes. You just might find that when you get back to what you were doing, you will feel more energized and ready to conquer the task!

5. KEEP IT CLUTTER FREE

Did you know when you’re surrounded by clutter, you can feel even more stressed? It’s true, which is why Cleaning off your desks, tidying up the space you spend most time in or investing in some organizational items to help keep the clutter under control is key to finding balance in your day-to-day life.

It’s time to splurge on that shiny rose gold desk organizer!

6. LEAN IN TO YOUR LIMITATIONS

Everyone has limitations, which isn’t our favorite thing to think about. But the thing is, everyone has their own unique amazing strengths! When you accept your weaknesses as areas of opportunity, you gain a whole new outlook. You can always strive to be the best version of yourself, but along the way, stop being so hard on yourself!

For example, maybe you’re not a “competition-ready” chef. If you’re constantly beating yourself up about it, consider taking some cooking lessons to improve. You’ll be shocked at your mad, new kitchen skills. Plus, think of the joy and sense of accomplishment when your family and friends start asking for seconds!

The moral of this story (we mean “blog”) is to be kind to yourself. Whether large or small, you need to add balance to your life in order to reduce stress, become a better version of yourself and find time for what really matters!

6 Ways to Find Self-Love and Be Empowered

From doing what truly makes you happy, to letting go of what’s dragging you down, finding even the simplest ways to love yourself will empower you and lead you to do great things. So, take note and try applying even just one of these 6 things to your life today!

GIFT YOURSELF HAPPINESS

We all feel good when we’re happy. When we take the time to do the things that make us happy, that positivity trickles into all other areas of our lives. A happy person feels empowered and motivated to do more; that can make a HUGE difference at work, at home and with friends and family.

So, find time to do what makes you happy, girl! Even if it’s as simple as indulging in your favorite coffee drink or buying that pair of fab shoes you’ve been eyeing for weeks. You’re worth it!

FORGIVE YOUR FAILURES

There’s no avoiding it: Failure is a part of life. We all experience it and, oftentimes, it’s our failures that lead us to something even better. Don’t tear yourself down when you fail; instead, build yourself up! Get back up and try, try, try again! When you face failure, embrace it. Learn from it. Grow!

EMBRACE YOUR STYLE

Those with a great amount of self-love often ROCK and OWN their personal style, whether it’s low-key, all about comfort or dressing to the nines. You may love to wear sneakers all day every day (you may even have the same pair in 20 different colors!) while your BFF wouldn’t dare be caught without heels. You both feel 100% when you wear what your heart desires, no matter the current trend or what others may think. This, ladies, is the definition of self-love. When we embrace who we are and our personal style, there’s only one way to feel…EMPOWERED!

(We bet you all those knock-’em-dead style days all include lashes though, are we right? 😉 )

DON’T SETTLE

Of course, every aspect of our lives can’t \go exactly how we’d like it to, but we can always strive for more; we don’t have to settle! Even the small steps make a difference. Think about your job, your relationship, your health—decide what it is you want to improve, then embrace the journey. First, find the drive and motivation to reach your goals, then set out to achieve them. That can-do attitude in itself is empowering!

Self-love means not settling. Self-love is knowing you’re capable and deserving of more!

LET GO

Whether it’s a friend, relationship or habit that is bringing you down…let it go. It can be easier said than done but finding true self-love means having the courage to let go of the people or things that we know are not good for us. Love yourself enough to let go and see how free you feel when you do!

BE SELFISH

As women, we are always putting others before ourselves. We feel like it’s our job to make sure everyone’s needs are met before even thinking about our own. But how about we let you in on a little secret? It’s OKAY to be selfish sometimes! That’s right, we said it! It’s okay to be selfish.

If you need to cancel your dinner plans just to stay at home on the couch with your dog, in your PJs and in front of your favorite chick-flick, do it! If you need to say no to the tenth birthday party your child has been invited to this month, do it! If you need to let your husband handle the kids for half a day while you go to the spa, get your lashes done or simply go shopping ALONE, do it!

Instead of always taking one for the team, let the team give you one every now and then. It’s good for the soul, for your relationships and your sanity. Love yourself enough to be selfish from time to time and see what a difference it can make!

Is there something you do when it comes to self-love that makes you feel empowered and gives your soul a boost? We’d love to know! Please comment and share your self-love tip below!

10 Simple Ways to De-Stress

April is Stress Awareness Month and no matter what it may be, from work, kids, relationships or just life in general, we all have stress. Take note of these 10 simple ways to de-stress and do yourself a favor and try at least one this week.

1. Take A Walk

While just about any walk will help to clear your head and boost endorphins, consider walking in a park or other green space, which can actually put your body into a state of meditation. (via huffingtonpost.com)

2. Finish The Tough Stuff First

Try to get your most complicated tasks out of the way early in the day so that they’re not looming over you for hours. Think of it as a “best for last” technique and you’ll start to look forward to your afternoons. (via popsugar.com)

3. Aromatherapy

Smell is often an underrated sense when it comes to our daily lives; we generally take for granted the ability to smell. In fact, smelling (and our olfactory nerve, which gives us our sense of smell) gives us the ability to connect directly to our brain. The olfactory nerve sends responses to the amygdala, which is responsible for our emotions, motivation, and nervous system. According to a study from the Pharmacy Department of Brazil, Aromatherapy has been proven to help reduce anxiety as effectively as prescribed medicine.  (via darngoodyarn.com)

4. Take The Edge Off

Find ways to take the edge off your stress. Simple things, like a warm bath, listening to music, or spending time on a favorite hobby, can give you a much-needed break from the stressors in your life. (via ewellnessmag.com) Psstt Ladies . . . take a break at The Lash Lounge where our luxurious, spa like environment makes relaxing during one of your favorite services the perfect escape!

5. Learn To Say No

Learning to say ‘no’ is an important aspect of maintaining a good mental health. We understand your need to help everyone, but trust us – that won’t bring you any good in the long run. It’ll just lead to a faster burnout, so focus on yourself and achieve a peaceful state of mind. (via spiritselfhealth.com)

6. Turn on Some Tunes

While classical music has a particularly soothing effect — it slows heart rate, lowers blood pressure and even decreases levels of stress hormones — any music that you love will flood your brain with feel-good neurochemicals like dopamine. Don’t have your headphones handy? Try humming or making your own music. One study of stressed-out nursing students found that recreational music-making relieved stress and prevented burnout.(via huffingtonpost.com)

7. Establish Your ‘Me’ Time

People live really hectic lives these days, which leave them no time to wonder if they are truly happy and satisfied with what they’ve got. Establishing your ‘me’ time can help you to make that happen, so don’t be afraid to set some boundaries and do whatever feels right for you. Finding a new hobby can be extremely beneficial for your well-being, no matter if you opt for knitting, reading books, working out, hiking, or watching movies. There are a lot of different options you can explore, and it really doesn’t matter which one you’ll pick as long as you’re satisfied with it.  (via spiritselfhealth.com)

8. Connect with A Friend

Socializing is one of the easiest ways to distract yourself from everyday anxieties, so call up a pal to chat for a few minutes. Try to avoid any work-related venting and stick to fun, tension-free topics instead.  (via popsugar.com)

9. Visualize

A short visualization is an easy way to get back to center. Even the National Institutes for Health recognizes the power of “guided imagery” to elicit a relaxation response. Simply make yourself comfortable (at your desk, in an empty conference room — wherever!) and then try to picture a peaceful scene: a future vacation, your favorite beach. You can even visualize yourself accomplishing a future goal or, as Women’s Health magazine puts it, “picture yourself in an elevator, happily sandwiched between two hot actors of your choice.” (via huffingtonpost.com)

10. Unplug

It’s impossible to escape stress when it follows you everywhere. Cut the cord. Avoid emails and TV news. Take time each day — even if it’s for just 10 or 15 minutes — to escape from the world. (via ewellnessmag.com)
