A Day in the Lash Life: Teacher + Business…

Today, we’re super excited to give you an inside look into the day and the (lash) life of a real-life Lash Lounge woman, Cate Gale.

Cate lives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area in Texas and is a regular guest of The Lash Lounge Prosper – Gates of Prosper. Talk about a killer set of lashes, right? But what’s even more impressive is how she puts them to work for her!

Living Life With Lashes: An Interview With DFW Teacher, Influencer + Business Owner, Cate Gale

LL: We’d love to hear a little about your profession and your daily routine!
CG: I am a middle school teacher and also a business owner of two online companies. When I’m not working, I am a gym junkie and I also volunteer every week with student ministry programs. Needless to say, I am constantly on the go.

LL: How has getting lash extensions enhanced your busy life?
CG: On days when I don’t want to wear much (or any) makeup, I still feel put-together by having lash extensions. And not only do I feel put together, but I also feel super confident when getting out with little to no makeup on.

LL: Does having lash extensions simplify your daily beauty routine?
CG: Yes, it does! In fact, it has cut down my morning routine by at least 15 minutes.

LL: What does it mean to you to feel and look beautiful while being a boss and working woman at the same time?
CG: That’s a great question!
First off I think that every woman, despite what they do for a living should never feel like they have to sacrifice their confidence or what makes them feel beautiful to also be fulfilled in their career. I fully understand that so many of us are constantly on the go, many working multiple jobs while taking care of loved ones daily. But, self care is not selfish, and in order to function as our highest selves, we need to feel confident, so whatever that may be for someone, lashes, nails, makeup, hair, etc. they need to make that a priority. Feeling super confident raises our vibration that echoes out into the world, and all of that comes back to us tenfold. So when we’re sending out confident vibes, those all come back to us in different ways.

What does that mean to me:
I LOVE all that I do, and I love that having my lashes done when I wake up, allows me to tackle other things and feel confident and beautiful while looking my best. Lashes give me that extra pep in my step knowing that I don’t have to spend an hour on makeup and I can still shine!

LL: What are some other beauty related benefits you are enjoying now that you have lash extensions?
CG: What I enjoy most is that I don’t have to worry about dreaded mascara smudges, especially during allergy season or when I’m feeling a little teary-eyed.

LL: Summer will be here before we know it, which brings us to our next question: What do you think will be the biggest benefit of having extensions during the summer months?
CG: What I’m most looking forward to this summer is being able to go to the pool and not having to worry about my mascara running. Total game-changer!

LL: What do you love most about visiting The Lash Lounge and receiving your service?
CG: The lash naps are amazing, but what I really love most is the guest service. It’s SO great! The staff listens to you and treats you like a princess. I am also obsessed with the atmosphere! I feel like I’m getting the VIP treatment every-single-time.

FORGIVE YOUR FAILURES

There’s no avoiding it: Failure is a part of life. We all experience it and, oftentimes, it’s our failures that lead us to something even better. Don’t tear yourself down when you fail; instead, build yourself up! Get back up and try, try, try again! When you face failure, embrace it. Learn from it. Grow!

EMBRACE YOUR STYLE

Those with a great amount of self-love often ROCK and OWN their personal style, whether it’s low-key, all about comfort or dressing to the nines. DON’T SETTLE

Of course, every aspect of our lives can’t \go exactly how we’d like it to, but we can always strive for more; we don’t have to settle! Even the small steps make a difference. Think about your job, your relationship, your health—decide what it is you want to improve, then embrace the journey. First, find the drive and motivation to reach your goals, then set out to achieve them. That can-do attitude in itself is empowering!

Self-love means not settling. Self-love is knowing you’re capable and deserving of more!

Whether it’s a friend, relationship or habit that is bringing you down…let it go. It can be easier said than done but finding true self-love means having the courage to let go of the people or things that we know are not good for us. BE SELFISH

As women, we are always putting others before ourselves. We feel like it’s our job to make sure everyone’s needs are met before even thinking about our own. But how about we let you in on a little secret? It’s OKAY to be selfish sometimes! That’s right, we said it! It’s okay to be selfish.

If you need to cancel your dinner plans just to stay at home on the couch with your dog, in your PJs and in front of your favorite chick-flick, do it! If you need to say no to the tenth birthday party your child has been invited to this month, do it! If you need to let your husband handle the kids for half a day while you go to the spa, get your lashes done or simply go shopping ALONE, do it!

Instead of always taking one for the team, let the team give you one every now and then. It’s good for the soul, for your relationships and your sanity. Love yourself enough to be selfish from time to time and see what a difference it can make!

Recently, she has taken matters in her own hands in order to change the dynamic of women on the big screen. Instead of waiting for the path to change on its own, she created her own path and started her own production company in order to capitalize on female driven stories for not only film, but for television and on-line. Malala Yousafzai

Shot in the head at close range by a Taliban gunman, Malala Yousafzai from Pakistan became well known for her criticism of the Taliban and her astounding campaign on education. After surviving the gunshot, she became a beloved spokesperson for not only women and children’s rights, but for human rights in general. Now at 20 years old, Malala has spoken in front of the United Nations (including Queen Elizabeth), was a co-recipient of the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize (she was the second Pakistani to receive a this honor after 1979 ), was granted an honorary doctorate by the University of King’s College, and opened a school for Syrian refugees.

There are so many incredible things that this young woman has already accomplished, as well as a number of honors she has received, but one thing is for certain . . . Malala is an amazing example for us to watch and learn from and we can’t wait to see what she does next!

If you are not familiar with the name Marne Levine, you should be! Marne is the COO of the ever growing social media platform, Instagram. It was not always an easy road during her professional career, but today she is known for helping Instagram grow all over the world, changing the advertising platform on the app and was a leader in launching the live video tool that’s now widely used on IG. But how does she help women? Marne is greatly inspired by women in business and understands how Instagram can be an incredibly valuable tool for women who are working to promote and grow their business. This wife and mother of two travels around the globe, mostly to meet and connect with female entrepreneurs and founders who have faced yet overcome business barriers. In an interview with Marie Claire, Marne said (in reference to Instagram and how it empowers women in business,) “Women can access the information, support, markets, and even the capital to turn an idea into a business,” she says. “That’s remarkably empowering.”

The way Instagram has become a great platform for inspiring women in general, to inspiring them to take their passion and turn it into a livelihood (like TLL’s Founder and CEO, Anna Phillips,) excites Marne and confirms the mission behind her work.
