Life is busy. As modern women, we often find it difficult to take time for ourselves. Between work, school, friends and family obligations, it’s easy to fill the hours of our day without doing the little things for ourselves that make us feel good inside, and out. And you—yes YOU!—deserve to feel good.

So, What Is Self-care?

But what is self-care? Self-care can be whatever you want it to be and even as simple as drinking plenty of water or going for walks in the fresh air. Often in the form of a “treat” or “reward,” the action of taking care of YOU is vital to living your best life and giving yourself back to those around you.

Self-care Is Ongoing And Should Be Practiced Daily

Sticking to some kind of self-care routine is key, whether it’s something you do throughout your day or something you practice each day. Whatever it is, self-care is a continual need and will mean different things to different people at different times. It’s basically all the things you do to stay sane. And when you start feeling out of control, chances are you are not taking care of yourself.

Some of the easiest (and most obvious) ways to practice self-care daily include:

  • Eating a balanced diet
  • Exercising (how about yoga or a spin class?)
  • Turning off electronics
  • Getting enough sleep (it’s tough but you do need at least 7-8 hours!)
  • Taking a hot shower or relaxing bath
  • Drinking plenty of water (eight glasses a day is a good goal)
  • Maintaining your appearance (The Lash Lounge is here to help with that!)
  • Meditating

Why Is Self-care Important?

You’ve heard it before: You can’t take care of others when you don’t take care of yourself first. But it’s so true. It’s hard to give your best when you don’t feel your best. Self-care helps you feel your best—physically and mentally. Practicing little things that make you feel good daily and reserving time for “self-care days” help you give your all to your friends, family and peers.

How to Have a Self-care Day

Having a successful self-care day is all about finding what works for you. For example, some prefer to celebrate a self-care day alone, while others choose to spend it with friends or family members. Your preferences may change, but the key is deciding what will make you FEEL your best and help you BE your best!
Start planning your self-care day and don’t forget to tell the members of your household (parents, children and partners) that you’re off-limits for a couple of hours OR the entire day! (Sounds like pure bliss, doesn’t it?)
These are some of our favorite self-care day recommendations:

  • Visit The Lash Lounge and enjoy having your brows threaded and tinted
  • Grab lunch with a friend

Not only will you feel like a NEW YOU, but an “indulgent” self-care day can help you recharge!
