Not sure where to start? Let us help!

1. DÉCOR TO YOUR DOOR

What’s the one thing many of us buy over the holidays to spruce up our home and dining table before friends and family come over? Flowers, of course!

This year, skip the hassle of shopping for your favorite blooms, then spending time cutting and arranging them. Instead, purchase some gorgeous faux flowers that ship straight to your door and last well after the holidays. (Hello, convenience!!)

2. LUX LOOK WITH BAKED-IN TIME SAVINGS!

Custom lash and brow services, a simplified beauty routine and time to relax with a lash nap…who wouldn’t want that during the holiday madness?!

Most women spend so much time focusing on what they can do for others over the holidays. This leaves them with–you guessed it—approximately zero time for themselves.

If there’s anything we know, it’s when you look and feel good, that extra confidence boost will completely transform your holiday gloom into holiday game. (Even with your in-laws staying at your house for a week…way to go, girl!)

Find a Lash Lounge near you and view the customizable services calling your name!

3. CONVENIENT CLEANING

Two words: robot vacuum! Sure, it could drive your four-legged friends a bit crazy, but it will keep you from sobbing into a dustpan! Why exert more energy than you have to to keep your house spic and span?

Do yourself a favor and get one of these genius gadgets ahead of the holiday hustle! (Bonus: Now Santa for sure won’t think a vacuum is a present! It’ll be your little gift to humanity.)

4. QUICK QUOTES

When the holidays get overwhelming, sometimes just the thing we need is an uplifting message or quote to give us that inner boost. Our go-to inspiration? Influential women in history! Words of wisdom and stories of strength from this book will inspire you all season long.

(Psst…and if you’re in need of a special gift for your best gal pals, this is it!)

5. MOUTHWATERING MENU…MINUS THE MESS!

Dreading all the cooking or not a fan of making certain dishes? We feel you! Make it super easy this year. Host a potluck or order those sides, desserts and sweet treats in!

A number of companies offer a variety of scrumptious gourmet dishes that can be delivered to your home (even in a rush) and are sure to please any palate…even the picky ones! You’ll spend less time in the kitchen and more laughing and making memories…which is what the holidays are all about!

6. HEY, ALEXA!

Whether you need a weather update or to ask for a recipe, want the convenience of tracking a package or adding items to your Amazon cart, Alexa is your “girl.”

Until you test out this virtual assistant, you won’t believe how much it can help you. Learn how it works and visit Amazon.com to purchase your new BFF!

If you’re not quite ready to take the plunge with Alexa, check out some other popular virtual assistants.

It’s no secret. We give so much of our time and ourselves over the holidays, which is why, large or small, be kind to yourself this season. Don’t just dream about making the holidays simpler this year…make it happen!

Eyelash and Eyebrow Tinting: The Dynamic Duo

Could your lashes and brows use a little extra oomph? If you’re dreaming of the day you can toss the brow pencils and mascara out the door for good, then dream no more. Let The Lash Lounge highlight your beautiful natural facial features with eyebrow and eyelash tinting.

TINTING: THE WHAT, WHO + HOW

What Is Tinting?

Our life-changing tinting services allows you to enhance your eyelashes and eyebrows with a deeper, natural-looking color and thicker appearance, bringing those lackluster hairs back to life!

Who Can Get a Tint?

Anyone can get a lash and brow tint! We usually perform this service on guests who have light-colored or barely-there natural lashes and brows.

For guests with light-colored hair, we always recommend pairing lash extensions* with a lash tint. After all, lashes look the most lustrous when they’re all the same color! If you’re already a member, we recommend adding a tint to your refill every other visit (every 4 weeks).

*If you’re wondering if a lash tint will reduce the retention of your eyelash extensions, it won’t! Tinting ingredients will not affect the adhesive bond between the extension and your natural lash, so you can continue your lash life as usual!

How Long Does the Service Take?

The tint application process is quick! We’re talking 30 minutes—just enough time for some quick beauty rest!

How Long Does A Tint Last?

Both our eyelash and eyebrow tinting services offer an immediate pop of color. Even better? It lasts for 4 weeks!

WHY GET A TINT AT THE LASH LOUNGE?

When you get a lash and/or brow tint at one of our salons, your stylist will combine both their expertise and our industry-leading products to customize the perfect look for you! Flaunt it day in and day out!

Our lash and brow dyes are 100% safe and gentle.* Plus, they are all created specifically for use on lashes and brows. Because we use a low-volume developer and ask that you keep your eyes closed for the duration of your appointment, there’s very little risk of that nasty stinging or burning sensation you might have experienced in the past.

* If you have allergies or allergy sensitivities, our dyes could be a trigger and we recommend that you give the salon a call before booking an appointment. Please be sure to ask us which services would be a better fit for you.

Custom Tinting Process

Here at The Lash Lounge, we use your natural lashes and brows as our artistic canvas. Our professional stylists will work with you to choose the best color and shape for your new lash and brow look. We’ll choose colors that complement both your skin tone and your lovely locks.

You might have heard of other methods of brow tinting, such as henna. What you might not know is they’re not always great options. Unlike our tinting applications, henna will tint the skin, too! Henna also tends to veer more toward reds and browns, seldomly matching a person’s hair or skin color.

Riveting Results

When you get an eyebrow or eyelash tint at The Lash Lounge, the results are mesmerizing. You’ll give new life to your lashes and brows and add beautiful definition to your stunning natural facial features.

Who better than real Lash Lounge guests to showcase the transformation?

See the lovely Julia header photo? She was one of the models from our “Lash Look” photoshoot; she’s literally glowing after her own custom lash and brow tint!

This guest from The Lash Lounge Dobbs Ferry – Rivertowns Square had her eyelashes and eyebrows tinted and the result? A beautiful, natural look.

A NEW LOOK AND BEAUTY ROUTINE (GOODBYE, PRODUCTS!)

The moment you lay eyes on your new lashes and brows marks the beginning of your new love story, starring tinting.

Add in the time you’ll save in the front of the mirror each morning and you’ll be hooked for good! Your lashes and brows will be darker and fuller than ever. Let’s face it, they’ll be captivating—they’ll be so good, it’ll be time to toss the mascara and brow pencils. You won’t have to worry about those icky, unattractive clumps and mascara smudges anymore, even when you swim!

EYELASH AND EYEBROW TINTING NEAR ME?

If you’re more than ready to let your natural beauty shine and turn some heads with a lash and brow tint, you can conveniently select a salon in your area, make an appointment online and be on your way to experiencing the beauty and benefits of lash and brow tinting!*

*Lash and eyebrow tinting are not available at all salons. Please check with your local Lash Lounge for availability near you.

Eyelash Extension Care: Tips On Catching Zzz’s With Lash…

Sleeping with lash extensions: Should you sleep on your back? Should you use a certain pillowcase or mask?

Today, we’re answering this eyelash extension care question with some great tips from our training tribe here at The Lash Lounge!

HOW TO SLEEP

When you have eyelash extensions, you can take care of your eyelash extensions by catching your zzz’s on your back. This ensures that each precious lash will stay in place, remain untouched and not encounter any tugging during those nights you find yourself tossing and turning.

If you’re not a back sleeper, we know it may be tough for you. If sleeping on your side is how you’re most comfy, then that’s A-ok, too! Just know that if you are a side sleeper, it is not uncommon if you notice a couple lashes on your pillow from time to time.

HOW NOT TO SLEEP

Stomach sleepers, we have some bad news: When it comes to caring for your eyelash extensions, your fave sleep position and lash extensions are not the best match.

To get the longest life out of your lashes, try to avoid sleeping on your stomach because this position will catch your lashes in between you and your pillow, compromising their perfect shape and speeding up the shedding process.

PILLOW TALK

What you have heard is true: The type of pillowcase you choose can have an effect on your lashes.

Cotton Pillowcases

So, what’s the deal with a usual cotton pillowcase? While a cotton pillowcase can feel ultra-soft, cotton causes increased friction between your lashes and the material, resulting in premature lash shedding.

Silk Pillowcases

This brings us to silk pillowcases! Resting your head and lashes on a silk pillowcase is ideal when you have eyelash extensions. Not only will it allow your lashes and the extensions themselves to glide on the surface while you sleep, but you will also avoid any lashes getting caught or pulled like when you use a cotton pillowcase.

Here are some more awesome benefits of sleeping on a silk pillowcase:

  • It’s better for the hair on your head due to all the tossing and turning you may due at night.
  • It can help prevent the appearance of facial wrinkles, assist in keeping your skin smooth and help prevent acne!

EYE MASKS: DO THEY HELP?

Many of our guests often wonder if sleeping with an eye mask is a good idea, so we asked our amazing corporate trainer, Ambrielle, about this very topic. She shared, “I have mixed emotions about using masks with lash extensions. I find that the wrong type of mask can cause more harm than good (i.e. smashing the lashes, retention issues, etc.) However, I would recommend the right kind of mask where the socket area is beveled out so there is no direct contact with the mask and the lash extensions.”

So, there you have it! Whether you sleep on your back or rest your tired head on a silk pillowcase, there are ways you can get that much-needed beauty sleep while also keeping each and every lash in place. So, the next time someone asks you how to care for eyelash extensions, you’ll be a sleeping expert!

Have more questions you’d like to ask our training team? Please share and we’ll work on getting expert answers for you!

Tips & Tricks

Promote Hair and Lash Growth With These 7 Superfoods

Genetics, age and lifestyle are just a few of the things that can play a role in the growth of our hair and even our lashes. And the truth is some of us need a little extra help in this department. Of course, vitamins and growth serums help, but so can something as simple as adding certain foods to our regular diet. Which ones, you ask? We’re dishing them out below!

1. AVOCADOS

If you love a good guacamole or simply just enjoy eating avocado, then you’re already on the right track. Full of vitamin E, avocados are a great food source because they offer antioxidants that keep free radicals in check. This helps fight oxidative stress in our bodies, which is good because this stress is a big contributor to hair loss. Adding this food to your diet can help relieve your body of that stress and keep those locks flowing.

Fatty acids are also found in this superfood; if our bodies are lacking these, they can play a role in how much our hair can grow. Since we do not produce fatty acids in our body naturally, eating avocados is a surefire nutrition win!

2. SWEET POTATOES

Did you know that biotin, vitamin A, vitamin B5 (among many more) are found in sweet potatoes? These not only keep your hair and lashes healthy, but also growing! Sure, you could take supplements that contain all of the above, but simply incorporating sweet potatoes into your diet on a regular basis sounds like way more fun!

If you have heard of biotin, you probably remember hearing it in conversations about hair. In fact, biotin is often referred to as the “H” vitamin, which is a nickname from two German words: haar and haut. What do these two words mean? Hair and skin!

3. NUTS

“Sometimes you feel like a nut”…you know the rest. Nuts are amazing for hair and lash growth. Adding nuts of all kind to your daily diet is an easy way to get the vitamin E, fatty acids and amino acids that your lashes and hair so desperately need in order to stay healthy and keep growing.

One amino acid in particular called l-arginine is actually a form of protein which is often used to help treat hair loss and even baldness. Whether you like cashews, almonds, peanuts or any nut, each type consumed in a healthy portion is so very good for you.

You know what we love most about this food? Many types of nuts are often packaged in great, single-serving sizes, making them ideal for carrying with you on the go.

4. SALMON

This seafood favorite is another that is highly rich in omega-3 fatty acids and is good for our eyes, bones, brain function and so much more. When consumed often, it can be truly incredible when it comes to the thickness and overall growth of our lashes and hair.

Along with the many other minerals and vital vitamins our bodies need, salmon is rich in vitamin B and D, which promote the growth of hair and eyelashes. Whether you’re dining in or out, be sure to add some salmon to the menu!

5. MUSHROOMS

Most people either love or hate mushrooms. Which camp are you in? If you are a mushroom fan, then you’re in luck! For every cup of cooked mushrooms, you could get approximately 40% of the recommended daily amount of vitamin B3, which is known to rehydrate and nourish the hair follicles in order to make them stronger.

If you have brittle hair, then foods like mushrooms are a no-brainer! Whether you sauté them, throw them in a salad or get creative in the kitchen, add some mushrooms to the mix. Your hair and lashes WILL thank you!

6. EGGS

Scrambled, hard boiled, poached—how do you like your eggs? If you are a fan of this protein-rich food, then you’re already in the hair-growth game. That’s because our hair (and lashes) are greatly made up of proteins. If our bodies are protein-deficient, then our hair and lashes can greatly suffer. So, eat those eggs, people!

If you’re more of an egg white person, high-fives to you. However, to get the full benefits of all the goodness eggs have to offer, eat both the white and the yolk.

7. GREEK YOGURT (WITH A DASH OF CINNAMON, TOO!)

One vitamin you’ll see a lot in hair products is vitamin B5. It’s no accident; B5 promotes not just the overall health of hair, but also its growth! We’ll give you one guess what food is also full of this source. Yep, Greek yogurt! Eat it with your favorite fruit or healthy toppings or add it to a smoothie to get that helpful serving in each day.

No matter how you like to eat it, you’ll also be giving your body an extra boost of vitamin D, known to help our lashes and lovely locks grow longer and stay healthy.

Wait! One last question: Do you like cinnamon? If you do, then dash some of this delicious spice onto your Greek yogurt because it can help your hair, too. Cinnamon supports the increase of blood flow in our bodies; when more oxygen and nutrients are getting to our hair follicles, the faster, stronger and longer our hair can grow!

Raise your hand (or bat your lashes) if you learned something today! All in all, when your hair is healthy and growing, then your lashes will be, too.

So, have your splurges here and there (hello, Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey) but try, try, try to add these foods (and many of the other beneficial superfoods) to your diet however you can. Your hair, health and wellness will reap the benefits!

Spring Lash Shedding + What You Need to Know

Never heard of lash shedding? Wondering what it is, what happens and why during certain seasons? Good news—you’re not alone! Since spring has officially sprung, we’re sharing why you might be more likely to find a stray lash here and there this season.

WHAT IS LASH SHEDDING?

Whether you have lash extensions or not, we all experience lash shedding. Remember when you were young and noticed a single lash hair on your cheek and then you would make a wish? Yes, that was lash shedding in action!

This natural occurrence happens to everyone. Our lashes fall out in cycles, completely replenishing approximately every 60–90 days. But don’t be alarmed! This is a healthy part of our hair-growth routine. In fact, on average, we lose up to 20% of our natural lashes every two weeks; depending on our own individual hair-growth cycles, a person can shed between 1 and 5 natural eyelashes a day.

A new eyelash has already been growing to replace the lash that falls out and for most of us, we don’t even notice!

WHY DOES LASH SHEDDING HAPPEN? (AND WHY IN THE SPRING?)

While we experience lash shedding year-round, many of us notice that our lashes shed more during certain seasons, like in the spring. Why does this happen and why during this time of year? It’s really quite simple. During the spring season, our bodies start preparing for warmer temps and warmer weather. It’s during this natural process that our body will increase oil production to help keep not only our hair, but also our skin from getting dehydrated. So, it is common for all of us to experience additional shedding with not just our hair, but also our lashes.

WHAT TO DO + WHAT TO KNOW

There’s not much you can do to prevent lash shedding, since it is after all a natural process. But something to keep in mind is that when your natural lashes shed, your extensions shed with them. But as long as you keep up with your regular lash refill appointments every 2–3 weeks, your lash line will stay full and gorgeous just how you like it!

Another key thing to remember when experiencing the lash shedding cycle is to keep your lash extensions clean. Since spring is a big time for allergies, this can cause additional buildup to increase on and around your lash line. Use a lash extension-safe cleanser to keep them squeaky clean. It’s always a good idea to brush your lashes each day with a clean lash wand, too.

All in all, this is a natural process and no cause for alarm—we promise! Just as certain animals shed their winter coats, so do us humans, just in a different way.

If you do have lash extensions and ever have a concern about how many lashes you are shedding, chat with your lash stylist. After all, they are the experts when it comes to all things lashes and they are there to put your mind at ease and offer tips every step of the way!

14 Resolutions All Women Should Make for the New…

It’s almost time to say goodbye to 2018 and hello to 2019! Whether for your health, body or mind, see these 14 resolutions that all women should make for the new year!

1. Give Yourself 30 Minutes Of “Me Time” A Week

Relieving stress is a great goal, but pretty hard to grab if you don’t pinpoint how to do it. One way: Set aside 30 minutes a week for some quiet time by yourself. You can use this time to meditate, journal, walk in nature, or simply just breathe. Now that’s a New Year’s resolution idea you can probably get behind. (via womenshealthmag.com)

2. Give Yourself More Compliments

Repeat after us: “Today is my day. I’m thankful for me.” Positive self-talk can help you focus on what’s good in your life, says psychologist Joy Harden Bradford, Ph.D. Research shows that a little vitamin G (for gratitude) can make you feel happier and more satisfied and even improve your sleep. “If you repeat an affirmation related to gratitude in the morning, you’re likely to show and feel more of it throughout that day,” Bradford says. You’re so welcome! (via goodhousekeeping.com)

3. Ask For Help

We’re specifically talking to you, moms. It takes a village to raise a family, and that means you deserve help on this journey through parenthood. Pretending you can do it all only hurts you and, inevitably, your family because it leaves you emotionally and mentally depleted. Whether it’s asking your spouse to take over the chores or hiring an extra set of hands to give you a break, you deserve the help and should resolve to ask for it in 2019 – and beyond. (via mom.me)

5. Get Healthy

Every year, you say it (and you might even give it an honest effort before throwing in the towel), but 2019 is officially the year of reclaiming your health. The trick? Throw away your preconditioned ideas about weight and clothing size, and focus on being truly healthy. That means exercising to keep your heart and mind active, eating a mostly healthy diet (with the occasional indulgence) and taking care of your mental health to help remove roadblocks to your success. (via mom.me)

6. Write To Yourself

When your inner critic picks up her bullhorn, jot down the kind words you’d say to a friend in the same situation. “We have such a hard time channeling compassion for ourselves,” says Emma Seppala, Ph.D., of Stanford’s Center for Compassion and Altruism Research. “Writing it down makes it easier to shift perspective.”(via goodhousekeeping.com)

7. Embrace Your Figure

Before you make any  fashion resolutions, the first step is to get familiar with the shape of your body and fully embrace it. What may look good on a pear shaped figure will most likely not suit an apple shaped one. Knowing your body shape and what suits it will help you grow your confidence and ensure you always look good, no matter what you wear, even when you’re wearing a swimsuit. ( via joyfulsource.com)

8. Get Your Life On A Schedule

If you regularly use the word “chaos” to describe your family’s daily life, then let us introduce you to the magic of a day planner for 2019. Having a set daily schedule that includes waking up, meals, activities, appointments, bedtime and more, will help your family operate like a well-oiled machine. While adapting to a new schedule can initially be rough, once everyone adjusts, the chaos will give way to calm and comfort. (via mom.me)

12. Do One Thing At A Time

Multitasking doesn’t make you more efficient, but it does stress you out, says mindfulness expert Pedram Shojai, author of The Art of Stopping Time. “If your focus is fragmented, you’ll likely find yourself getting anxious as new items come up when old ones are still incomplete,” he says. Instead, he suggests, organize your activities into chunks of time, such as kid time and cooking time, and then “commit to being focused in that allotted time and see what happens.” (via goodhousekeeping.com)

6 Ways to Transform the Usual Smoky Eye

One of the easiest ways to glam up any look  is with a great smoky eye. Consider stepping outside of the box this holiday season and try one of these unique looks below to transform the usual smoky eye into a show stopping look.

Emerald Smoky Eyes

Instead of making a statement with the usual red lip, make one with a bold smoky eye, but in green. The perfect green eyeshadow paired with volume lashes will make any holiday look pop, just as we see below on actress and singer, Lucy Hale.

Smoky Wings

Bringing the smoky shadow out along the corners of each eyelid gives an even more dramatic, smokier look with a sultry wing effect, which is sure to take your holiday glam game up a notch! Just see how fabulous this look is on model, Bella Hadid.

Subtly Smoky

Because sometimes less IS more, we love the idea of a subtle smoky eye, as seen below on Eiza González. A faint eyeshadow with a hint of shimmer is the way to go to achieve this elegant look.

Smoky Gold

A gilded smoky eye never looked so good, just as we see below on Nicole Richie who completed her look with classic, full lashes. Try ‘going for the gold’ this season and select a shadow with a shimmery gold tone and try this look for yourself!

Smoke ‘n Glitter

A smoky eye should never be limited to only dark gray shades, but can work beautifully when glittery, warm tones are used. Just see how fabulous Emma Stone’s eyes look! We also really love how the smoky look was not just applied to her top lid, but also underneath along her lower lash line for an even more sultry look. #bowchicawowwow

Blue Smoky Eyes

Try taking the usual smoky eye up a notch by accenting the look with a pop of blue in the inner corners, just as Kelly Rowland did. Then of course, her lashes complete the look with the perfect amount of length and curl.

Our 4-Step Eyelash Extension Customization Process

No client, their eye shape or their natural lashes are the same, which is why here at The Lash Lounge we take our client consultations very seriously. We want to determine a custom lash style to fit you and your life. How, you ask? See below for details on our 4-step eyelash extension customization process.

1. Face Mapping

Our Face Mapping system allows our stylists to determine the client’s eye profile. All eyes fall into 1 of 3 profiles and each eye can even be a different profile. Based on which profile each eye is, indicates which lash design will look the best. Our face mapping system provides a fool-proof, perfect lash design for each eye, every time.

 2. Lash & Curl Type

Our stylists strive to educate our guests on which lash curl is best for them and also which texture, Silk or Mink. We offer 3 different lash curls: C curl, D curl and L+ curl. (Stay tuned for more info coming soon to the blog on the textures and curls.)

(image via The Lash Lounge Memorial Green)

3. Longest Length

To determine what the longest lash length is, our stylists consider the following: 1) The length of the natural hair 2) The condition of the natural hair 3) The desired look of the guest. If a guest requests a longer length, the stylist can use a thinner extension or suggest the client upgrade to mink lashes which are lighter in weight and won’t damage the integrity of the natural hair.

4. Application Method & Lash Thickness

The final step to the customization process our stylists conduct is selecting which type of application method the guest prefers (Classic Lashes or Volume Lashes) and which lash thickness will work best with their natural hairs.

After the stylist has completed the 4-step guest consultation, they will then complete the guest’s custom design code. Below is an example of how that design code is determined:

Design: Straight, Upward, Downward
Curl: C, D, L+
Lash Type: Silk or Mink
Length: List the longest lash length selected (i.e. 12mm)
Method: Classic or Volume
Thickness: .06, .07, .10, .15, .18
