While you might wake up and be ready to go…are your lashes?

It’s important to take time to properly clean your lashes to promote general lash health and keep your morning routine working in your favor! If you don’t, makeup, debris and natural skin oil can build up along your lash line and threaten the durability of your lash extension adhesive.

One of our most frequently asked questions is, “How do I clean my lashes?” While some may think eyelash extension care is an in-depth process, that’s not the case at all!

Adding lash cleaning to your daily routine is one of the easiest ways to keep your lash line looking its fullest! Just remember to wash your face and your lashes regularly.

Protecting Your Lashes

Do your fluttery friends a favor and follow the 3 lash care steps below. When you do, you’ll not only ensure a fuller lash line and easier mornings, but you’ll be protecting your lash investment as well!

Cleaning Lash Extensions At Home Is As Simple As These 3 Steps!

The Lash Lounge's Gel Eye Makeup Remover product

STEP #1: Remove Makeup

Splash your eyes with lukewarm water and then gently massage an oil-free makeup remover around your upper and lower lid lines. We recommend our Gel Eye Makeup Remover. Infused with hydrolyzed soy protein, it works to remove makeup without drying out your skin.

Rinse with water until all product and makeup is gone.

NOTE: Visit a Lash Lounge near you to purchase our oil-free, lash extension-safe makeup remover!

STEP #2: Know What to Clean Your Eyelash Extensions With!

Apply our Lash Detox foaming cleanser onto a clean eyelash cleansing brush and gently wash in a downward motion over the eyelid and lash line.

Rinse with water until all product is removed.

TIP: Never rub back and forth as this will be too harsh on the lash extensions.

STEP #3: Pat Dry, Then Brush For Optimal Eyelash Extension Care!

Gently pat dry the skin around your eyelashes with one of our Lint-Free Wipes and then let your lashes air dry.

Last but not least, brush through your lashes with a clean mascara brush, like our crystal lash wand, to separate and fluff once they have dried.

Lash Cleaning FAQs

Why is Cleaning Lash Extensions Important?

Not only will regular cleaning make your lash extensions last longer, but it will also ensure they’re at their fullest between lash appointments. Dead skin cells, dirt, makeup and oils will all build up across your lash line over time. If not regularly cleaned, these impurities can dissolve your lash extensions’ bond.

Can I Wear Eye Makeup with Lash Extensions?

Yes, you can! While most of our guests choose lash extensions to ditch mascara, there are some who want to go full glam. While you can wear eye makeup with lash extensions, it’s important to follow these two steps to ensure your lashes last between appointments!

  1. Take it all off at the end of the day—it’s important to thoroughly remove all your makeup at the end of the day to avoid buildup or inflammation.
  2. Avoid oil-based and alcohol-based makeup products as these ingredients can cause premature breakdown of your lash adhesive. Oil-free and alcohol-free mascaras are the way to go!
